Why clay
A roof you only buy once
Most roofing is a coating on a substrate, and coatings have a clock on them. Fired clay does not work that way — which changes what the roof costs you over the life of the building. CS Clay Tile provides diverse styling options across its catalog: Plasma gives designers and roofers the flexibility of both aligned and crossed joint configurations, while Tecno delivers classic Portuguese barrel-tile aesthetics designed for standard aligned installation.

The long view
How a clay roof ages
The color cannot wear off
The color is the clay itself, fired at temperature. There is no coating on top to chalk, peel, or wash away, because there is no coating at all. What you see on the pallet is what the roof looks like in year thirty.
Nothing in it can rot or rust
Clay is fired earth. It does not feed mold, it does not corrode, and it does not burn. The failure modes that shorten other roofs simply are not available to it.
It sheds heat instead of holding it
The profile lifts the tile off the deck and lets air move underneath. The roof vents itself, which takes load off the air conditioning underneath it.
Which profile suits the building?
Tecno, Plasma and Plasma TX5 are fired from the same clay to the same standard. The difference is the look and the way the roof reads from the street.
Compare the three profilesThe Clay Tile Advantage: Precision Engineering Meets Craftsmanship
Investing in clay tiles means choosing a complete, high-performance roofing system built for extreme weather and timeless aesthetics.
Superior Weather Protection & Interlocking Design
Our tiles feature an engineered interlocking channel system that sheds water both laterally and vertically, dramatically outperforming traditional roofing materials in heavy storms.
- Wind & Water Resistance
- Interlocking joints minimize wind-driven rain penetration, remain stable under high wind loads, and tolerate natural structural thermal movement.
- Tested Impermeability & Frost Resistance
- Proven freeze-thaw durability (Level 1, >150 cycles under EN 539-2 standard) to tolerate severe weather and natural structural movement.
- Flexible Joint Configurations
- Designed to accommodate both aligned and crossed joint installations, giving architects and installers maximum layout flexibility without compromising weather resistance.
Unmatched Durability & Low Maintenance
Clay tiles provide long-term mechanical strength and structural integrity that lasts generations.
- Minimal Mortar Required
- Built-in side and headwall channels eliminate weak penetration points and minimize the need for mortar.
- High Mechanical Resistance
- Engineered for superior breaking loads, planarity, and strict dimensional tolerances.
- Permanent Color & Finish
- Fired-in colors and engobed finishes resist UV fading and weathering, keeping their rich appearance over decades.
Cohesive, Artisan Finish
A high-performance roof should complement the home’s architecture down to the smallest detail.
- Seamless Rooflines
- Integrated ventilation tiles maintain proper air circulation beneath the deck without breaking the visual flow of the roofline.
- Complete System Accessories
- Purpose-made rake, eave, gable, and specialty tiles create a unified, designer-grade finish rather than a piecemeal look.
